A total of 172 vacancies have been announced for the post of Assistant Fireman (Direct Recruitment). These are distributed across Unreserved (UR), EWS, SEBC, SC, and ST categories. Only male candidates are eligible to apply.

AMC Assistant Fireman Recruitment 2026 – Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must fulfill all eligibility conditions as on the closing date of online application (14-05-2026). Only male candidates are eligible. Reserved category benefits are available only to original residents of Gujarat holding valid caste/category certificates issued by competent authority of Gujarat Government.
The minimum educational qualification required is SSC (Class 10) pass. Higher qualifications carry additional marks in the merit system. Knowledge of Gujarati is relevant to the post.
Educational Qualification & Marks Weightage
Note: Marks under qualification items (1), (2), (3) are base marks. Fire-related course marks (item 4) are added over and above the base marks.
AMC Assistant Fireman Recruitment 2026 – Age Limit
Candidates must be at least 18 years and not more than 32 years of age as on the closing date of application (14-05-2026). Relaxation in upper age limit is provided for reserved categories as per rules. Maximum age limit including all relaxations shall not exceed 45 years under any circumstances, except for candidates already in AMC service.
AMC Auxiliary Task Force volunteers on honorarium basis get age relaxation equal to years of satisfactory service (Chief Fire Officer certificate required).
AMC Assistant Fireman Recruitment 2026 – Application Fee
Candidates applying for the post of Assistant Fireman are required to pay a non-refundable application fee as specified below. The fee must be paid online through the AMC application portal. Fee paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.
Candidates submitting applications without the prescribed fee will have their candidature rejected. Candidates are therefore advised to confirm their eligibility and verify all details before making payment.

Candidates must meet the following minimum physical standards to be eligible. Candidates failing any physical standard will be disqualified.
Physical Disqualifications
Candidates will be disqualified if they have any of the following: visual defect (vision must be 6/6), color blindness, squint eye, flat feet, knock-knees, pigeon chest, hunchback, abnormal physical behavior, deafness, or any physical deformity hampering duties as a Fireman.
AMC Assistant Fireman Recruitment 2026 – Selection Process
The selection process for AMC Assistant Fireman Recruitment 2026 consists of 2 successive stages — Physical Standards Check followed by Physical Fitness Test (PFT) — after which a merit list is prepared combining PFT marks and Educational Qualification marks.
Candidates who pass the physical standards check will be called for the Physical Fitness Test. Only candidates who pass all four events of the PFT (minimum 10 marks in each event AND minimum 40% aggregate, i.e., 160 marks out of 400) will have their PFT marks combined with educational qualification marks for the merit list. The combined merit list will be submitted to the Staff Selection Committee for further process.

Applications must be submitted online only through the AMC Recruitment portal accessible at https://ahmedabadcity.gov.in. No offline/hard copy applications will be accepted. Candidates must visit the Recruitment & Results section and click Apply Online against the relevant vacancy.
After submitting the application form, a payment link will open automatically. Candidates must complete fee payment via Debit Card, Credit Card, or Net Banking. An application number will be generated after successful submission and sent to the registered mobile number via SMS.
Candidates are not required to submit original documents at the time of online application; documents will be called for physical verification at a later stage as required by AMC.

Important Instructions for AMC Assistant Fireman Recruitment 2026 Candidates
- Only male candidates are eligible to apply for this post.
- Eligibility, age, qualification, and experience will be calculated as on the last date of application i.e. 14-05-2026.
- No hard copy applications will be accepted – online submission only.
- Application fee is non-refundable; applications without fee (except PwBD) will be rejected.
- Only one application per cadre is permitted; if multiple applications are submitted, only the last confirmed online application will be valid and excess fee paid will not be refunded.
- If marksheet/degree shows Grade or CGPA instead of percentage, the candidate must submit the University’s official conversion chart at the time of document verification.
- Reserved category benefits are available only to original residents of Gujarat; certificates issued by other State Governments will not be accepted.
- SEBC candidates must submit valid Non-Creamy Layer certificate (issued between 01/04/2024 to 14/05/2026) in the prescribed format (Parishisht-4).
- EWS candidates must submit valid EWS certificate (valid for 3 years from date of issue, issued before last date of application) in prescribed format (Parishisht-Ga / Annexure-KH).
- PwBD candidates must submit permanent disability certificate from Civil Surgeon showing minimum 40% disability.
- Candidates must mention a valid mobile number with DND settings OFF in the application form; AMC will not be responsible for non-delivery of messages.
