Pappireddipatti constituency was created in 2011 after delimitation of Dharmapuri, replacing Morappur constituency. Since then, Pappireddipatti has seen four elections, including a bye-election in 2019, following the disqualification of the then sitting MLA P. Palaniappan. The people of the constituency has consistently voted for the AIADMK, since its creation.

Pappireddipatti will see a two-cornered contest between the DMK and the AIADMK, in a constituency that consistently returned an AIADMK MLA.
