In a bid to prevent projects from stalling due to fluctuating bitumen prices due to the West Asia crisis, the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) has invoked the star rate system for construction materials, limited to bitumen, cement, and steel. The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) is also likely to adopt the same method, including for completing pending works at Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Layout (NPKL).
In addition, the GBA has decided to extend the deadline of projects affected by disruptions by 33 days. This essentially means that several projects will not be completed by the onset of the monsoon, which was the deadline set by Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar for all road works.
