Government whip and Kadapa MLA Reddeppagari Madhavi Reddy has reportedly blamed Ganja menace as one of the reasons for the Almaspet stone pelting incident that rocked Kadapa city on May 9 (Saturday).
While reiterating her resolve to protect communal harmony, which she claimed as the essence of Kadapa district since generations, she blamed anti social elements for taking the situation into their control and allegedly resorting to violence.
Addressing a media conference here on Monday, along with her husband and TDP zonal coordinator Reddeppagari Srinivasa Reddy, she flayed the ‘hidden forces’ for unleashing trouble in the city with the agenda of destabilising peace and harmony.
“Communities belonging to different religions have peacefully coexisted for decades now. Anyone trying to cause trouble and instigate attack will be dealt with seriously. The law will take its own course,” she asserted.
Citing reliable information, she claimed several local youths addicted to ganja were forced into the Almaspet stone pelting incident and that they had finally landed in police net.
“While the future of the youth appeared bleak when they addicted to ganja and other narcotics, they have now been forcibly involved in the stone pelting incident, which further affects their future,” Ms. Madhavi Reddy said.
She maintained that the TDP-led NDA alliance would soon launch a “Safe Kadapa” movement to restore communal harmony.
