The Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBP), functioning under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, has officially released the recruitment notification for the post of Assistant Commandant (Engineer) in ITBP-2026. This is a Group ‘A’ Gazetted, Non-Ministerial post under General Central Service, offered on a temporary basis likely to be made permanent. The post carries All India liability, meaning selected candidates are liable to serve anywhere in India or abroad.

On appointment, candidates shall be governed by the ITBP Act, 1992 and ITBP Rules, 1994 as amended from time to time. A total of 6 vacancies have been notified. A total of 6 vacancies have been announced for the post of Assistant Commandant (Engineer) in ITBP. The vacancies are distributed across reservation categories as per Government of India norms. Out of 6 posts, 4 are for the Unreserved (UR) category, 1 for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), 1 for Scheduled Tribe (ST), and no vacancies currently exist for SC and EWS categories.

The Assistant Commandant (Engineer) post carries a very attractive pay package under the 7th Central Pay Commission. The basic pay is at Level-10 in the Pay Matrix ranging from ₹56,100 to ₹1,77,500. In addition to the basic pay, the post carries Dearness Allowance (DA), Special Compensatory Allowance (applicable while posted in specified border areas), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance, Leave Travel Concession (LTC), and Free Medical Facilities for the officer and family. As per the posting location (border/non-border), additional allowances are admissible as per Force rules.

On appointment, candidates will have the option to choose either the New Pension Scheme (NPS) introduced by the Government of India with effect from 01.01.2004, or the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) introduced with effect from 01.04.2024, as per their convenience. Candidates who resign before completing a minimum service of 10 years will be required to refund an amount equal to three months’ pay and allowances or the cost of training, whichever is higher.

The application fee must be paid online only through the payment gateway available at the official ITBP recruitment website. Payment through any other mode will not be accepted and applications submitted with alternate payment modes will be summarily rejected. The fee once paid is non-refundable under all circumstances, including in the event of cancellation of notified vacancies.

The selection process for ITBP Assistant Commandant (Engineer) is comprehensive and multi-staged, designed to assess physical fitness, academic knowledge, and overall personality. Important Instructions for Candidates
