Commercial flight operations from Birsi Airport in Maharashtra’s Gondia have been suspended, with airlines citing “technical and operational” reasons, an official said on Sunday (May 10, 2026).

Sources said the carriers’ decision to suspend operations at the airport could be linked to the ongoing West Asia crisis, which has affected global energy supplies.

According to Airport Director Girishchandra Verma, IndiGo and Star Air have stopped operating services from Gondia due to “technical and operational” reasons.

Star Air has suspended its services till May 31, he said, while IndiGo stopped operations on May 1, he said.
