“A structured neonatal resuscitation training is essential to increase the life expectancy of newborn children,” said Vice-Chancellor of BLDEA Deemed University Arun Inamdar on Sunday.
He was speaking during the inauguration of the Nationwide Neonatal Resuscitation Training Day program at the BLDEA Deemed University in Vijayapura.
He said that dedicated service and focussed educational initiatives by the Department of Pediatrics are important. The program raises awareness about the need to provide prompt and expert care to newborns who require respiratory assistance immediately after birth.
The nationwide Neonatal Resuscitation Training Day was held under Training No 234 in collaboration with the Department of Pediatrics, Shri B.M. Patil Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre, the Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP) Vijayapura Branch and the National Neonatal Forum (NNF).
It is a part of NNF India’s historic nationwide initiative where over 1,100 neonatal resuscitation training workshops were organized in a single day in the country, training over 23,000 doctors and nurses across 35 States and Union Territories.
The event was held under the theme, One Day – One Nation – One Mission: Saving the Lives of Newborns with Every Breath.
Around 50 healthcare professionals, including doctors and nurses, participated in the training program. The workshop focused on essential skills, including effective respiratory support techniques, emergency neonatal stabilization procedures and model-based team training.

Patil, Neonatologist and Associate Professor Siddu Charki, president of the IAP Vijayapura Unit S.S. Kalyanshettar, Sudhir Chavan, Ravikumar Baradol, R.H. Gobbur, Vijayakumar Biradar, Atul Thobbi, NNF Bharat, IAP Vijayapura, representatives, faculty and support staff were present.
