Telangana to expand midwifery training across govt nursing colleges to curb C-section rates

Telangana Health Minister C. Damodar Raja Narasimha on Wednesday (April 8, 2026) announced that the State will soon introduce midwifery training programmes across government nursing colleges, as part of a broader push to promote normal deliveries and reduce the rising incidence of Caesarean sections.

The announcement was made during the National Safe Motherhood Day celebrations at the National Midwifery Training Institute in Hyderabad where the Minister outlined the government’s approach to maternal healthcare.
