Earthquake strikes Vanuatu islands, magnitude 7 recorded

A ​magnitude ‌7 earthquake ​struck ⁠the Vanuatu Islands on ‌Monday (March 30, 2026), the ‌German ‌Research ⁠Centre ⁠for Geosciences (GFZ) said.

The U.S. Tsunami ​Warning ‌Center said there was no ‌tsunami threat ​from the ⁠earthquake.

The quake was ‌at a depth of ‌130 km (80 ​miles), GFZ said.
