Hungary’s new leader, Peter Magyar, on Wednesday (April 15, 2026) called on the country’s President to resign as part of a fresh start for the central European nation after 16 years of rule by nationalist Viktor Orban.
Mr. Magyar, who routed Orban in Sunday’s election, said he made the call to President Tamas Sulyok, an Orban ally, during a meeting to discuss convening the new parliament, expected in early May.
