SAIL Young Professional Recruitment 2026 – Vacancy Details

A total of 48 engagement positions have been announced across three SAIL plants – DSP Durgapur (16), ISP Burnpur (30), and ASP Durgapur (02) – spanning three divisions: Projects, Works, and Materials Management. Engagements are distributed across YP-1, YP-2, and YP-3 grade levels depending on required experience. Vacancies are tentative and SAIL reserves the right to cancel or modify engagements without notice. Candidates are advised to apply for only one engagement as CBT may not be held on multiple dates for candidates applying for multiple engagements.

SAIL Young Professional Recruitment 2026 – Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must fulfill all eligibility conditions (qualification and experience) as on the closing date of application i.e. 06-06-2026. All Indian Nationals who have completed 23 years of age and possess the requisite educational/professional qualifications and work-experience can apply. B.E./B.Tech. or equivalent must be Regular/Full time from a Government-recognized University/Institution with minimum 65% marks. Work experience must be in Executive Cadre in a Steel Plant/Process Industry/Manufacturing Industry.

Note: Essential qualification of B.E./B.Tech. or equivalent must be Regular/Full time in the respective stream from a Government-recognized University/Institution with minimum 65% marks. For foreign university qualifications, an equivalence certificate from the Competent Authority is required. CGPA scores will be converted to percentage as per University/Institution norms; if no norms are specified, conversion will be proportionate (e.g., 8.3 out of 10 = 83%).

SAIL Young Professional Recruitment 2026 – Age Limit

Minimum age is 23 years. Maximum age varies by grade – YP-1: 35 years, YP-2: 38 years, YP-3: 42 years. Age is calculated as on the closing date of application i.e. 06-06-2026. No age relaxation details are mentioned in the notification for reserved categories – all eligible Indian Nationals may apply as per the age limit specified for each engagement code.

SAIL Young Professional Recruitment 2026 – Remuneration & Benefits

Young Professionals will receive a monthly consolidated retainership fee with annual increments based on performance. They are NOT entitled to any other perks, allowances, loans/advances, PRP, Provident Fund, Pension, Gratuity, or terminal/service benefits beyond what is specifically mentioned in the advertisement. This is a Contract for Service – not employment under the State.

Selection for Young Professional engagements will be based on: (i) Application scrutiny for eligibility; (ii) Computer Based Test (CBT)/Aptitude/General Management/Psychometric Test if applications received are more than 5 times the requirement (shortlisting ratio 1:3 based on test performance); (iii) Personal Interview if applications are fewer than 5 times the requirement – all eligible candidates called for interview. Final merit list is prepared with CBT:Interview weightage of 80:20. A discipline-wise panel (1:1 ratio of selected to waitlisted) will be maintained for 6 months for non-joining/early exit cases.

Stage 1 – Application Scrutiny

All applications received by the closing date (06-06-2026) will be scrutinized for fulfilment of eligibility criteria. Candidature is purely provisional and will be verified against original documents at the time of Interview, Pre-Employment Medical Examination, and Joining.

Stage 2 – Computer Based Test (CBT) / Shortlisting Test (if applicable)

If applications received against any engagement exceed 5 times the requirement, a Computer Based Test/Aptitude/General Management/Psychometric Test or any standard test/exam will be organized. Shortlisting for interview will be in the ratio of 1:3 based on test performance. If the cut-off marks are obtained by more candidates, all of them will be called for interview. CBT carries 80% weightage in the final merit list.

Stage 3 – Personal Interview

Shortlisted/all eligible candidates will be called for personal interview at centres spread across the country. Interview carries 20% weightage in the final merit list. No request for change in date or centre of interview will be entertained. Candidates from PSU/Govt. Departments/Autonomous Bodies must produce NOC in original from the employer at the time of interview.

Stage 4 – Pre-Employment Medical Examination & Joining

Joining of selected candidates is subject to medical fitness. Selected candidates must join within 30 days from the offer of engagement – no extension permitted. Every selected candidate must enter into a Contract for Service agreement with the respective SAIL Plant before joining.

Candidates must first complete One-Time Registration (if new user) and then proceed to fill the application. Once all required details are entered and the application is confirmed, no editing will be allowed. After confirmation, candidates must pay the Registration & Processing Fee online, submit the application, and download the Registration Slip with Application ID.

Important Instructions for SAIL Young Professional Recruitment 2026 Candidates

  • This engagement is purely of temporary nature (Contract for Service) and shall NOT create any right for regular appointment on any ground whatsoever. It does NOT create an employer-employee relationship with SAIL.
  • Initial tenure is 3 years, extendable up to 2 additional years (one year at a time) based on satisfactory performance – maximum total period is 5 years.
  • Performance is reviewed annually; tenure extension is at the discretion of the Company based on performance and eligibility.
  • During the first 6 months, either party can terminate with 7 days’ notice without notice pay. Beyond 6 months, 1 month’s notice or 1 month’s retainership fee in lieu is required by either party.
  • Absence for 15 consecutive days without prior written sanction may lead to immediate termination without notice.
  • Self-insurance (Medical/Life/Health/Accident) is mandatory for all Young Professionals.
  • No other perks, allowances, loans, advances, PRP, PF, Pension, Gratuity, or terminal benefits are payable beyond those specifically mentioned in the advertisement.
  • In the event of death, injury or illness attributable to performance of services, neither the Young Professional nor family members shall be entitled to any compensation from SAIL.
  • Candidates must join within 30 days from the offer of engagement – no extension is permitted on any grounds.
  • Every selected candidate must sign a Contract for Service agreement with the respective SAIL Plant before joining. Engagement without a signed agreement is null and void.
  • Candidates must furnish an undertaking/declaration regarding good moral character and absence of criminal conviction or pending judicial proceedings at the time of joining.
  • SAIL reserves the right to carry out pre-engagement verification of antecedents and credentials including general character. Adverse reports may lead to termination without notice.
  • Examination centres allotted are binding – no request for change of examination centre will be entertained.
  • Court of jurisdiction for any dispute will be at Asansol/Durgapur, West Bengal.
  • SAIL-ISP/DSP/ASP reserves the right to cancel/restrict/modify/alter the engagement process at any stage without notice or reason, without any liability to compensate applicants.
