A young woman allegedly died by suicide at Kidur Kundankeradukka in Kumbala in Kasaragod district, reportedly distressed over the recent death of her fiancé in a bike accident. The deceased was identified as Prafulla, daughter of B. Jayanandan. She was found dead at her residence.
Police said Prafulla had got engaged to Mani, a native of Tamilnadu, around four month ago. Mani had been undergoing treatment after sustaining serious injuries in a bike accident a month ago and died recently.
According to relatives, Prafulla was alone at home when the incident occurred as family members had gone to attend a wedding function.
Police recovered a suicide note from the house. In the note, Prafulla reportedly expressed her wish to be buried at the same place where Mani was cremated. Inquest proceedings are underway. The body will be handed over to the family after the post-mortem examination.
