Days after the Jammu and Kashmir High Court quashed the detention of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)’s Doda legislator, Mehraj Malik, the district administration on Sunday barred any assembly in Doda for two months.

Invoking Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), which bars assembly of more than four individuals, Doda District Magistrate Krishan Lal, in an order, said: “The administration observed that some people were allegedly planning demonstrations and trying to mobilise gatherings, which could lead to untoward incidents and disturb public order.”
