Age Limit, Qualification, Nationality & Attempts

WBPSC Miscellaneous Eligibility Criteria 2026 requires candidates to be Indian citizens aged 20 to 39 years (as on the crucial date, usually 01.01.2026 or as specified in the notification) with a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university and proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking Bengali (exempt for Nepali mother tongue candidates).

The West Bengal Public Service Commission (WBPSC) conducts the Miscellaneous Services Recruitment Examination for various Group B and Group C posts such as Block Welfare Officer, Revenue Inspector, Assistant Programme Officer, Inspector (Backward Classes Welfare), and others in state government departments.

Candidates must be between 20 and 39 years as on the crucial date (typically 01.01.2026 or notified date). Age is calculated based on the Madhyamik or equivalent certificate.

Note: No upper age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC candidates from other states. They are considered under UR category only.

WBPSC Miscellaneous Educational Qualification 2026

Candidates must possess the following:

  • A bachelor’s degree from a recognized University or its equivalent.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak Bengali (not required if mother tongue is Nepali).
  • For candidates whose mother tongue is neither Bengali nor Nepali, Bengali knowledge will be tested during the Personality Test.

No minimum percentage or specific stream is mentioned — any graduate is eligible.

Nationality for WBPSC Miscellaneous 2026

Must be a citizen of India, or such other nationals as declared eligible by the Government of India.

Number of Attempts in WBPSC Miscellaneous

There is no restriction on the number of attempts. Candidates can apply as long as they satisfy the age limit criteria.

  • Knowledge of Bengali is essential (tested where applicable).
  • Candidates must fulfill all criteria as on the closing date of application.
